Hi,

I have a part with multiple solid bodies (Various inserts for an injection moulding).

When I create a drawing of the part, the views show all solid bodies, even if they are not visible in the part.

Is it possible to control which solid are shown in each view or do I have to create new parts with "make part" and then create views from these new parts.

you can either make part or make components.

Or as a work around, in the drawing you can Right click on the solids you don't want and select "select as edges" then right click on those edges in the proper view and turn off the visibility.
But I'm all for doing it right and not doing work arounds. An injection molded part with inserts is an assembly and should be modeled as an assembly. The inserts should have a part number and the molded part should have a part number and the whole thing should be an assembly and not a single part.

Thanks mcgyver

I agree with the assembly set up but my client wants it modelled this way for now.

I'll use "make part" or "make component".

I just wish the software writers would add the ability to turn off solids in a view or allow selection of certain design configurations.

Thanks again for your sugestions!

You could use Delete Face on the Solids you don't want and then hide the surfaces in the drawing. You could then control this configuration with Parameter or iLogic suppression.

More a of workaround...but it works.

Multi-Body is really designed to be used for that next step of Make Part or Make Components though, not really the software writers fault, more of industry practice if you ask me. I think there is an item in their wish list on this though since after development there have been many users asking for this, but they are the minority.
