hi,
I'm having trouble partitioning an object in CATIA.
Here's my problem, I have an object assembled with another object in CATIA and I would like to partition the object in the area where the two objects touch so that I can define constraints only in that isolated area. Also I would like to know how to project surfaces from one object to another so that I can partition the second object precisely,

I have attached a picture to help you guys figure out exactly what I'm talking about

Thanks a lot for all the help, I appreciate it

you will need to do that in the FEA package itself, unless it's integrated with catia.

Can you highlight the faces that you want to partition with? Possibly posting the file?

It looks like there are 2 concentric bands that are in contact with the outer tube. If so the easiest way would be to use the split command in GSD along with these planar features. Personally I try to do as much preconditioning for FEA in CAD as possible because this retains the parametric nature and avoids redoing it next time the geometry updates. What FEA package are you using many can also perform these actions as well.

I hope this helps.

Hi
If it's solid, first split surface in GSD and then sew surface(with deselect "simplify geometry"). Ten You get the surface below contact area that You can add a constrain you want.
