Hi,

I've built a CAD model of a sports car space frame in Solid Edge.
I wish to optimize the structure in ANSYS. In other words, I want to import the CAD model(iges) in ANSYS and make parts thicknesses as parameters. Hence, be able to change these parameters in an optimization algorithm.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Hesham

Take a look at the following in Ansys Help:

// Mechanical User's Guide // Features // Parameters :: 7 // CAD Parameters

// CAD Integration // File Format Support // Solid Edge (*.par, *.asm, *.psm, *.pwd)

If you are planning to perform your analysis using the Workbench Mechanical environment, then you can consider using the ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler product.

It can parameterise the dimensions of a model.
