Hi all,

Is it possible to model slopped column in etbas. because when i try to do so etbas recognise it as a brace which i am afraid will effect my analysis

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query

No. A column is perfectly vertical, a beam is perfectly horizontal, and a brace is anything between the two.

It shouldn't affect your analysis. ETABS doesn't treat frame members differently based on their orientation for analysis. Obviously inclined members will have some p-delta issues to resolve but that's because of the geometry not because ETABS is calling it a brace instead of a column. Even design shouldn't be affected, I've designed braces as columns many times.
