HI,I am a freshman. i ameager toget someadviceabout modeling an endmill with Pro/E.I don't know how to cope with the end of the flute.


I will be grateful for any help!

i assume your wanting to surface model the end and remove material just like we do where threads join onto a bolt

If you look at what happens in the real world, you can get a good approximation. To grind the flutes, the grinding wheel travels along the central axis of the cutter at a fixed distance from the central axis, till it reaches the inboard ends of the flutes. The grinding wheel then retracts away from the central axis, while still moving at a fixed speed along the axis. This is done using a helical sweep where the trajectory is a straight line starting just past the end of the cutter and then becomes a tangent arc curving away from the cutter body, where the flutes end.

The method described above is the most accurate way of
modeling the endmill...another crude way of modeling it
would be to use surface modeling in combination with
transformation tools like warp...an image is attached for
