Hi everybody!

Right now I'm modeling the root of a tooth. I first modeled a quarter of it and now i want to reflect the mesh to get the complete round one. The Problem is that when I reflected it I cant merge the four pieces together. I tried different values of the maximum distance but it didnt work.

I always get messages like this:
" Node 41276 Coincident with Node 19095 ( 0. ) Not Merged, Output CSys"

So I guess it is recognizing the coincident Nodes but doesnt merge them.

I uploaded a picture of the model to give you a better imagination what it looks like.

Would be very glad if someone could help me.

With kind regards

you need to remove the coincident nodes ... under "tools" (i think) "check for coincident nodes", and "merge". but you still may have a problem, in that the reflected meshes may not line up exactly, depending on how you created the meshes. also check for gaps in the model, there's some check of open surfaces.

another way since i guess you've created geometry solids of a 1/4 tooth, is to copy them then mesh everything together.

Peter,

I've had this exact situation happen. When FEMAP reflects mesh, the reflected nodes are by default assigned a new output coordinate system. If you use Modify/Update Output coordinate system and select all new nodes (or all nodes period), and change to the original system, your nodes will then merge properly using Tools/Check/Coincident Nodes.

Make sure you modify the OUTPUT coordinate system, there are several choices.

Thank you!

Everything is working fine now!
