how to make selected objects visible thru other objects?

i am working in an assembly and whenever i select something from the navigator which is behind other object(s) it doesn't get highlighted. i have to rotate the entire screen in order to see which object has been selected. thanks in advance.

In preferences selection there are
Some options that deal with highlights.
