how to know if the areas are glued together for an I section in APDL 1

IS there any way to know if the areas are glued together and whether the mesh attributes are attributed to different areas.

You can probably see this if they share a common line (list all areas and look on their line definition). Easiest is just run a modal analysis and that will show you if they are connected (as FEAway mentioned)
 
If I remember (have not done a lot of geom. lately in APDL - been some years ago), one can use the partition command to partition APTN, and thus connect things.
