I have modelled an elevated tank with shell elements. Now to do RCC design, we need BM and SF. But the results are in M11 , M22, M12 etc. Can anyone tell me how to interprete those results in terms of conventional BM and SF
First make yourself familiar with the local cordinates of the shells. In SAP2000 this is little bit tricky. Go to View > Set Elements. Then in your model you will see three red, white and blue arrows along with the global axes. Find Help for "Shell Local Coordinates". Read it and write down which number corresponds to which color. This is cumbersome but there is no other way until the CSI people make it more easier to read.
Click on -Help-> Search for Help on .. (or pressF1) -> Content -> Basic Concepts -> Sign Convention -> SHELL Element : Here I think you will find everything you need!
