How to get started with UMAT

Hi,

I am new to ABAQUS and I need to model a carbon fiber with a sleeve of thermoelectric material. I searched in the "materials" for thermoelectric material but I could nt find it. Then, I came to know that new materials can be incorporated using UMAT subroutine. It would be great if some one can guide on how to achieve this feat using UMAT( i saw a UMAT code and it was too complex for me to understand).
