How to get kg/hr from bscfd? 1

Hi guys,

I'm working on a project for new flare stack replacement. However currently we are only provided with very limited data that the original design capacity for existing flare is 1.25 BSCFD to cater on the total blowdown of plant.

Can anyone help me to understand how to get the capacity of kg/hr from this information. Thanks.
 
The weight rate can be derived as follows:

PV = znRT ( assume z=1 at standard conditions of 1atm, 15.6degC); so n = PV / RT

1.25bcfd = (1250 / 35.3 / 24) x 10^6 sm3/hr = 1.475 e6 sm3/hr

In SI units,

n = 101.3 x 1.475e6 / 8.314 / (273+15.6) = 62 272 kgmoles/ hr

So , mass rate = 62 272 x (mol wt of the gas) kg/hr

The molecular weight of this gas should be that relevant during this blowdown event.
