I have modelled an I-girder in abaqus using shell elements.
Can anyone tell me how to get forces from the stresses. I
modelled 3D but output stresses are plane stresses.
I could not find how to get forces from Abaqus when modelling in shell
elements. All the guides and online searching talk about how to get them
for beam elements. I apologise I did not clarify properly, I would like to find
forces from plane stresses i.e if I have mises stresses and all the stresses that I
can find out through abaqus. Can I calculate the force by just using the mises
stresses criteria to find an equivalent stress and then using that stress
to multiply by area?.
sorry didn't answer properly to question 3
I am currently studying the postbuckling phase
of shear panels in plate girders and the subsequent
axial force they generate on transverse stiffeners.
So I would like to compare the force generated in my model
to different design models
Surely Abaqus calculates the nodal forces ? (I really think so)
maybe your post-processor doesn't give you the option to plot them ? (don't think so, it should plot all the output vectors)
maybe you didn't ask Abaqus to include them in the output ? (probably where you should look)
maybe you need to look at the Abaqus output file to see them ?? (that'd be too olde school)
Thank you for the help, I found a few tricks that can help me do this
I have to request it from Abaqus. Again thank you for the help, exhaustion
has a way of turning me into an idiot.
