Hey All,

I have a job where utility lines need to cross a storm sewer line. The Township upgraded all the inlets in the area to include Water Quality Snouts and did not get as-built elevations on the pipes prior to placing the snouts. The inlets are now filled with water and the snouts do not appear to have access panels. Any idea how to get the elevation of the pipes plotted correctly?

We thought about getting some kind of a hooked rod that you could somehow get under the snout and hook onto the bottom of pipe and measure from the top of grate of the inlet. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Yak

Have you pulled As-Built plans and identified the specific SNOUT used? Once you do then you can use the standard detail for the invert location.

Unfortunately the Township installed the snouts without first performing an as-built and they have no information on the snout manufacturer. Normally, I would go out after a rain and assume the water elevation is the same elevation of the outlet pipe but these inlets are full of water.

I think the only way to get an accurate depth is to remove the curb and expose the top of the pipe. Unless somebody has an idea.

Thanks

Yak

Can you get photos of the SNOUT? Refer to this website: are these the same? If yes then you can approximate inverts based on their standard details.
