Hello everyone.
We all know how annoying it is when your laptop battery life starts decreasing from the moment it's manufactured.
In light of the limitations of current tech like li-ion and ni-mh batteries, new things are coming However, my question is "Has anyone actually come close to extending laptop batteriy life with current tech or something alternative?" And if yes, "How did you do it?"

Thanks before hand.

Don't hold your breath on that one:

The article in the OP is a mix of hype and misinformation. The Betavoltaic site shows that there's a non-insignificant amount of lead shielding required.

Thanks IRstuff,

However, I for one, refuse to believe that the answer lies in incresing the number of cells. The battery is already taking up 15 to 35% of a laptop's weight. Increasing the number of cells = increase in weight.

The only stuff I've seen that makes some degree of sense, overall, is the micro fuel cell. But, it sounds like it's still a few yrs off.

I think that that the only other solid solution is to pick the least power-hungry machine that still meets one's requirements. My laptop is not one of those; I got a 100-W inverter and it's breakers trip the instant the laptop is turned on.
