Does anyone knows of a tutorial or a good explanation as to how to draw a 3/4 diameter and #6 thread ACME SCREW in SoliWorks?

Thanks

Andy

Search for "thread" under keyword search. The subject has been around a long time.

Piscis,

Any thread, when you draw it, is nothing more than a helix. Read the SolidWorks help on helixes.

The Machinery's Handbook will tell you what an ACME thread looks like.

The thread will not be accurate if you draw a trapazoid in the normal plane. If you want accuracy, you need to draw the threads in the axial plan which is a big headache as well.

Just draw in the profile and create a pattern based on the pitch. It looks good, and is quick and easy to do.

If you do a helix, it uses memory and takes time for the part to rebuild, load, etc.. It is also more complicated.
