I know that this has been discussed on here before but has any one been able to get Solidworks to automatically display the B.C.D. when using the hole callout function in a drawing?
I would like to save time in this area because every time I have to dim a bolt circle I have to go in and modify the text on everyone of the dims.

draftsman2008,

Apply the diameter directly to the pitch circle, as shown in ASME Y14.5M-1994.

When you apply centre marks, select the pitch circle option. This gives you a circle you can apply the dimension to. You should also show the angle between the holes.

You are not supposed to do those bolt circle notes any more.

The company that I work for doesn't follow any national standard, they want the b.c.d. displayed with the hole callout like the pic I am attaching.

draftsman2008,

I recommend following the current standard, which is not to write up notes such as the one you have displayed. If you have a copy of a current drafting manual, you can show it to management and demonstrate how much clearer it is. Not everyone understands B.C.

You next choice is...
[ol]
[li]Apply the hole diameter, the depth and the pitch circle to the appropriate views.[/li]
[li]Create a note and attach it to the hole.[/li]
[li]Click on each of your dimensions, attaching them to your note.[/li]
[li]Exit the note.[/li]
[li]Right click on each dimension, and select Hide.[/li]
[/ol]

This will update parametrically.

No we don't have a copy of the current or any standard. And I doubt that I could talk them into buying a copy.
