i am just starting foundation recommendation for multi story buildings. i have a problem in determining the stress change at mid height of the compressible clay layer specifically and vertical stress profile in general? i am doing know consolidation settlement for 2B+G+15 building project. settlement is to be computed for clay layers 1.5-2m thick found below 15 and 28m below NGL. how to determine delta P in order to get delta e.

Any good soils text will have a section on determining stresses below a footing. See Leonards, see Tomlinson, see (very extensive) Polous and Davis' book Elastic Solutions for Soil and Rock Mechanics.

You are working on these for multi-story buildings and don't know how to figure out these values? That's a lot of risk involved. My advise to you is to contact an experienced geotechnical engineer. In the mean time, as suggested above, get some foundation engineering books and study, but even then, consult a geotech engineer who understands these concept and who have applied them.
