Hi,

How do we determine the BCD, thickness, and all other dimensions for a flange? Say that I have a 83 in. ID vessel requires bolted flange. So how do we determine the dimensions of the flange?

Thanks

Please see ASME VIII DIV 1, appendix 2 or appendix Y

AWWA C207 flanges may give you some idea about the dimensions close to the diameter of yours, Check the following link:

The selection of flange dimensions are simply economical and stress related. This may require a couple iteration with selected dimensions. You need to build/obtain a spreadsheet to go through the process for code compliance.

Additionally, you need to be careful with your bolt tightening procedure. The available space should be suitable for the tightening equipment.
