I have an inquiry about how to define which side of a plate element is the top and which is the bottom when checking stresses. Can someone help me please?
it'd depend on the element axes ... x- and y- are typically in-plane, z- out-of-plane. i'd expect 1 to be the +ve z face and 6 the -ve. but you can always read the manual or run a simple test.

I tried with a rectangular plate in x-y plane with edges fixed and a single force applied in -z direction. I get the same stresses for both top and bottom plate hence I can't tell which side is the top; I'm expecting different stresses for two sides of an element.
Can I use right-hand screw rule in the direction of the normal to decide the top side of one element?
You can see it by first selecting only plate top von Mises stress for example and see the stress distribution (memorize it). Then display both top and bottom von Mises stress at the same time. Rotate your plate and find the top face which corresponds to your first visualization...by deduction you will find the bot face
Also, by clicking F6 / Elements Labels / Element Direction. Select Backface Shading under Normal Style and Entity Colors under Color Mode.
Check Show Direction and hit OK.
