How to build a microphones preamp

hi,
can anyone help, or give any suggestion, because i am going to use a electet mic for my project, but most of them comes without a preamp, so if i want the signal to be suitable for inputing into the pic16F877A. issit i am going to build a preamp? and how to build it. pls help
