I am looking for some multiplier to help ensure I request the proper amount of resin for a part run. The material has various colorants added.

I have the crossectional area of the part/die and I know the length of my extrusion. With this I can calculate the volume of plastic making up my part. How do I account for losses in the manufacturing process (mixing, heating, drool, whatever, ...)?

Would it be reasonable to add 5% to the volume of my parts, or should it be more like 25%?

Somewhere between 1% and 10,000% depending on a few undisclosed variables.

Pat

Assuming this is the first time they've run the material get plenty extra. Ask the extrusion company and plan to have at least double the amount on hand.

What does "injection moulded extrusion" mean? From the description it seems you mean extrusion.
