I have installed CATIA V5R11 on a widescreen notebook computer (1680x1050 resolution). When I view sketches, parts, etc., they look distorted on screen as if they are fatter although dimensionally they are not. Are there options to compenstate for this widescreen distortion? I cannot seem to find any in the Tools >> Options >> Display Menus.

The notebook computer I am using has an ATI Radeon 9700 graphics card, which is not a professional card, but it gets the job done for me. Would that play a role in the screen distortion?

you can use two environment variables to set your display dimensions:

CATWidthMMOfScreen=340 [display width in mm]
CATHeightMMOfScreen=200 [display height in mm]

Works fine on my hp pavilion zd7000.

Alternatively you could try another version of your display driver.

Regards

Thanks a lot, lordrailie. I found that 370x230mm works best for my screen. Now I don't have to second guess my circular features anymore.

I meet the qustion a few day ago ,but I can't resolve it
thank you for explanations.

Before running the main CATIA program, run the Environment Editor located in the CATIA program group. You may have to get permission from your IT administrator to edit variables in this editor.

In the top window of the Environment Editor, I selected my CATIA_P3.V5R11.B11 global environment, which determines the list of variables in the bottom window. Then in the bottom window I added (right-click to add) two new environment variables as stated in lordrailie's post.

To get the proper dimensions of my screen, I just literally measured it with a plain ol' ruler.

^^ You can also simply open the environment file with a text editor like notepad.
