Every morning, compose a short list of measurable, achievable goals for the day. Make each one happen before you go home. Repeat.
Some people suggest writing the list out, which can be depressing if the goals are too much of a stretch.
Alternatively, keep a chronological text file of what you do each day. Just the facts. Who you spoke to, what time, what was said, like that. Brief and factual. Reviewing it at the end of the day gives you a sense of accomplishment, and may suggest items for tomorrow's list.
Keep the chron files indefinitely. Nothing impresses a boss like being able to reconstruct a day in the past with a little certainty. "Yes, I spoke to Joe, and he agreed to..".
