How Do You Link Solidworks Files Into Excel;

I am trying to help create a file management system for our Cad files using an Excel spreadsheet. What is the best way to link the files to the part #'s list in the spreadsheet? Thank you, for any and all sugestions.

Insert
Hyperlink
Browse to folder containing the SW files
Select file
OK

If you are looking to place an image into an Excel cell, that is completely different. I'm not even sure it can be done.
