How do I repair cracked PVC fitting half burried in cement? 1

I'm repairing a PVC pipe leak for a swimming pool.
The leak is coming from a 1" 45 degree PVC fitting that is half buried in cement.

My question is, do I epoxy the crack or chisel the cement around the fitting to be able to slip on another new fitting?

I have no confidence in an epoxy bond in that location.

I'd try to enlarge, clean and roughen the crack with a hacksaw blade, clean the crack and surrounding area with PVC cement pre-cleaner, then:

Stuff the fitting with compressed white bread to keep the cement from running into its interior. The pump will have no trouble blowing it out once it gets wet.

Then fill the crack with:

- PVC filings dissolved in PVC cement

OR

- Gorilla Glue (foaming polyurethane)

OR

- 3M 5200 Marine Sealant (filled polyurethane)

Wal-Mart carries the 5200 in small tubes.

Allow at least a 12 hour cure for any of these.

I'd bet that the 5200 has the best chance of making a permanent repair on the first try. Breathe on it to accelerate skinning so it won't run off.

The PVC and the Gorilla Glue may require application of duct tape immediately after application to keep them from running out; pre- tear a few strips so they'll be handy.
