I've been looking and can't seem to find a way to further customize my hotkeys in Solidworks 2006 SP3.1. I know ppl do it in games where there is a certain file in the game's folder that they can simply open up in Notepad and re-bind the Hotkeys. I know I can do it normally in the Tools>Customize>Keyboard but that is limited. I want to be able to re-assign my Ctrl, Alt, Tab, Shift, etc keys to something else.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

All of the customizable keys are kept in the registry, there is no editable file. I don't know of a any way to do it.

Issues of customization are my biggest headache with SWx. It'll only let you do thing to a point... then you probablly need access to the sourcecode to make changes... It seems to me like they could make it more flexible...

(sorry for the rant)!

Try writing a quick macro. Then assign it to any key you want. If this works for your great.

thanks guys. The registry?...then I can't change it then :(

The macro idea sounds possible, but now how do you bind keys with a macro? Anybody have code examples?
