How do I disable the "Layer Properties Manager" popup?

I would like to stop the popup Layer Properties Manager because I can type the commands more quickly than I can select them. Anyone know if there's a variable I can turn off?

AutoCAD antique commands are usually prefixed with '-'. Type "-layer" instead of "layer".

a shorter line command version presented by vlh75 "-la"
