How do I change the scale of an existing drawing?

I need to change the scale of an existing drawing from 3/8" to 1/4" to make changes. Also, how do I insert a drawing (which I'm not sure of it's scale) into a 1/4" drawing. I'm just confused about the scale factor.

If you mean that you want to rescale the entire drawing from 3/8"=1" to 1/4"=1" just select "modify/scale" or type scale and select the entire drawing, select your base point (probably 0,0) then set the scale factor to .66666666 . Remember to reset your limits.

As far as inserting an object, you should always draw at full scale,1=1. This will make it simple to insert any object since they will be the same scale. Set your limits,dimensions, linetype scale, and plotting scale to adjust to whatever scale you wish to plot the drawing.

Steve Smith is right. You should never have to change the scale of a drawing. It should always be drawn at 1=1. You might change the scale or size of your title block around your drawing so that it will fit on a particular size of paper when you plot it at 3/8"=1" or 1/4"=1", but you never want to scale your drawing up or down. If you do that, you will never be able to measure any distances on your drawing.
This will also make it easy to insert blocks, because you never have to worry about what scale to insert your blocks. Unless you tell ACAD otherwise, it will insert them at 1=1.

I want to add a font to Autocad 2000 from a floppy.
Can someone give me a step by step instructions (I am a new user)?

If it is a .shx font:
Add it to your C:\Program Files\ACAD2000\FONTS
If it is a windows font:
Add it to your C:\WINDOWS\FONTS

Then open AutoCAD and go to your menu bar at the top and select Format>Text Style and it should now be available
under Font Name.

If the font is a windows font then you will have to actually install the new font from the control panel to get it to show up in your applications.

Nice catch, although I have loaded fonts directly to C:\WINDOWS\FONTS and had applications find them after the
computer was rebooted.
