I'm new to femap and I'm modelling a pedestrian steel crossing all as plates. I have tried "stitch" and "NonManifold Add" and I couldn't get rid of the free edges. All surfaces have consistent mesh and nodes along their connection, but I couldn't figure out what the problem is.

This may be a slightly rude thing to ask, but, have you checked the model for coincident nodes ? :)

Ha! That's exactly what happened! Thank you. I don't know femap but I thought overlapping nodes will be automatically merged during analysis. Thanks again.

The first mode was an indicator the something was loose in the model. Good that it worked.

Dear ITsSB,
I have a trick to see free edges in big models:

1.- F5 > model style > free edges
2.- F6 > tools & view style > free dege & face > free edge / back face > 2.. View, Draw model > View Color = 0
3.- Filled Edges = OFF
4.- Set VIEW GEOMETRY togdle OFF, only elements.

If you have free edges inside you model a "virtual" black edge will appear telling you have to merge nodes.
Best regards,
Blas.
