Hi All,
I need to calculate axial & lateral displacement of specific location on a tank wall due to heat,In fact this is a location where an expansion joint will be installed and so I will find out about displacement of expansion joint place. I do appreciate any help.

Thanks

You can't colculate that.
Ask how much the tank is lowering while filling.
It depends of the geographical location.

You can calculate that. Start with where the tank is fixed - mount or base, for example, and using the coefficient of thermal expansion for the material that the tank is made of, knowing the change in temperature, calculate the expansion in each direction, X, Y, & Z from the anchor poinit or fixed point to the specific location in question.
