How avoid Solidworks to make an invisible solid

Hi,
I'm just modeling a simple cover for a plastic box. The cover is symmetric so I made it half but when I use the mirror feature, solidworks make an invisible huge solid (with a ring shape).

That dosn't look to professional and make some frustrating issue. For example when i select the object for "zoom to selection" everithing is really far because solidworks consider the invisible ring for that.

The only way to see the huge ring is by exporting the model and open it with another cad application.

Someone can tell me if is possible avoid it or erase this invisible ring?

Your help and suggestion are highly appreciated!
Thanks
