The uphill side is the front of the house and it is at elevation datum 100'. The back of the house is a walk out basement at 82' elevation. The basement floor is framed. Does anyone have any good literature to make sure this house is stable? How do I make sure the house and the soil beneath it wont slide down?

Talk to your Geotech. Have them analyse the slope for satbility.

Also doo checks for sliding with the 18' of soil and the lateral pressure applied.

What foundation type was used?
How steep is the slope - above at, and below the home?
What is the overall geometry?
What are the material types? Bedding planes?

Most books will talk about slope stability. You should likely have it analyzed. Also be sure the bearing capacities and passive pressures(for footings) or lateral resistances (for piers) were given with knowledge of the home's location and anticipated final grading.
