Hard to tell exactly what the structural system was. I see clay bricks, concrete columns and hollowcore planks in the debris pile. My friend lives in Suzhou so I'll try to find out some more details. These collapses are tragic and definitely weigh on my soul more heavily being a structural engineer.
@phamENG the danish engineering society weekly paper said this was not uncommen in China. This case was due to stories being added to the building and wo sufficient engineering. Often corruption takes place to get the structure/modification approved. Not saying this dosnt happen in the west just that this was referred to as often being the case in China.
