HOT TUB - gut check 1

I am supporting a hot tub on an elevated wood framed deck. The deck joist will be supported via a top flange hanger attached to a nailer on a steel beam. I wish I could bear the wood joist directly on top of the beam, but I cannot for architectural reasons. I am concerned about the top flange hanger rusting out and failing over time. I am specifying simpson model WP with HDG finish and Type 316 Stainless Steel nails in all holes.

Should I be concerned about this?

NJ also requires stainless steel connectors and fasteners within 300 ft of saltwater. Simpson guys are making $$$ down here.

It's real, though. Saw a house here on the bay. Deck was built with HDG nails. There was a clear line on the deck where a portion of the building shielded the deck from salty spray off the water. The deck was only 5 or 10 years old, and the exposed portion had little red splotches at all the nails. The shielded portion looked good as new. Crazy to see the abrupt transition. I wish I'd taken a picture.

That is cool. I am interested to see how the stainless holds up. They've only been enforcing it the last year or so.
