Factors Affecting the Life Horton sphere
Storage Tank Design Considerations
Instrumentation and Tank Gauges
Piping System Design & Transfer Pump Design
Corrosion and Corrosion Prevention
Tank Foundations & Seismic Considerations
Tank Accessories
Tanker Up-Load and Off-Load Sequence
Tank Inspection, Cleaning, Flushing and Maintenance
Spills and Containment Prevention Considerations
Design of Fire Sprinkler System and Insulation
Safety Considerations
Installation & Commissioning

With respect, your client appears to be an idiot to give the design of such a vessel to a company which has never done it before. That list is basically all the design aspects you need to look at and you're coming onto an internet forum to find it out??

I suggest you subcontract this to a suitably experienced and qualified company and then try and learn some key items from them.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

LittleInch is, as always, correct.

It appears that neither you or your client have any experience with Horton spheres or LPG storage.

Most LPG storage tanks are NOT Horton spheres ...... This should tell you something.

At least your smart enough to know that you don't know. That is a HUGE mark of intelligence, but you should sub this out to an experienced company and try to learn from them.

Since Horton spheres are design in accordance to ASME pressure vessels according to manufacturers listed on the internet, The National Board may have in their archives information pertaining to some of your inquiries and the ASME pressure vessel code would be an additional resources dealing with the construction of such sphere.
