I am unfamiliar with HDD for water main projects. I am designing a new 8' water main at a developed area and will be considering HDD as an alternate. I am not sure HDD will be applicable for all the pipe runs due to sharps curves, short runs prior to an intersection, etc. Typically, does HDD pipe go below all conflicts or does the profile vary. Are there any good design guidelines out there that may help. Thanks.

where will this project be constructed? Call the NASSCO offices or go to online to find a few contractors in your area. They will have more useful info for you.

I use HDD to install waterline in existing areas where multiple untilities or established highways make open cut prohibitively expensive. Pit and coring is also highly effective to replace/install new waterline. If there are multiple service connections, pit and coring versus HDD becomes the option of choice, otherwise it is an open cut situation. KRS Services
