Does anyone know where to find Robert Hooke's mathematical equations that led to the Gravity Train theory?

Obviously this is not work related, I'd just like to see the math.

A quote from the second article:
Not to mention that drilling a 6 meter wide hole through the Earth would displace over 340 cubic meters of rock

Quite a bit more, I'd say.

1.13 billion cubic meters only a little more than 340

CastMetal,

Really not. Being the earth diameter at the equator 12756.3 km,the volume would be: 360675885,3 cubic metre

I thought I remembered the number correctly as 40000km but turns out that was circumference.

my apologies

While taking college physics back in the early '60's, such math was covered. Halliday and Resnick was our physics book.

Thanks ione! Exactly what I was looking for.

I'd never heard of Hooke's "Gravity Train", but the same topic is covered in this blog post:

and following posts look at it in a bit more detail.

There's also a link between the transit time equation and Euler's column buckling formula, if you have a look around.
