Hollow core laid to a fall

has anyone designed a hollow core roof with the planks laid to a fall to minimize weight and to keep the topping a constant thickness?

Are you talking about 'tapered' HC planks?... if so, then no, they are extruded and a uniform thickness. You have to vary the topping thickness... check with local HC supplier.

Forgot the obvious... change the bearing elevation...

Yeah, I'm talking about varying the bearing height at each support. These are long spans (12m) and the topping would be too heavy over that distance if tapered.

You questioned whether anyone had done it, and I haven't seen it done, but don't see any fundamental reason why it wouldn't work.

I have seen it done once, though at a low grade. I don't see any obvious reason not to do so.
