Hi All,

Does anyone have issues with hole wizard altering their holes seemingly at random?

I am using SW Premium 2011 SP 5. To replicate (and to describe the problem) I have done the following:

• Create Hollow cylindrical part 1.265" OD x 1.1 ID
• Create second cylindrical part 1.1 OD
• Create assembly and place the cylindrical parts concentric to each other and aligned (using datums/faces) to fully constrain both parts
• Create multiple configurations
• Insert Assembly Feature->Hole Wizard
o Hole Type = Straight Tap
o Standard = ANSI Inch
o Type = Bottoming Tap
o Hole Specification:
o Size = 8-32
o Configurations = All Configurations
o End Condition = blind
o Automatically Calculate Blind Hole Depth = Off
o Hole Depth = .250
o Thread = blind
o Automatically calculate thread depth = Off
o Thread depth = .200
o Cosmetic Thread = Yes
o With Thread Callout = Yes
o Thread Class =Yes, 2B
o Near Side Countersink = 2.0 x 90 Deg
o Feature Scope = Selected Components = Both Cylinders selected
o OK to generate Hole
• Hole Generates properly
• Save assembly
• Change Configuration
• SURPRISE – hole wizard settings have changed – hole is now
o Depth = Blind = 0.294
• Change hole settings back to original desired setting
• Save
• Close assembly
• Close all parts
• Close Solidworks
• Open Solidworks
• Open Assembly
• SURPRISE – hole wizard settings have changed – hole is now
o Depth = Blind = 0.294

Also having problems with a 9/16-18 tapped hole, automatically alters the hole to .4531 diameter (not standard), and changes depth. It seems everytime it re-calculates it goes back to a set of default type values (sometimes which are not even standard or related to the hole), Which means every time I open, or Change the configuration I have to fix a bunch of mistakes.

Has anyone else seen this and know of a solution?

Thanks,

Solution (kinda):

1. Delete problem features
2. Re-build problem features

Issue disappears as magically as it appeared.
