What is the required holding time for an ASME VIII vessel hydro pressure test? this information seens to be missing in the code.

Thanks
Kevin

There is no minimum hold time. However, there are inspections that must be completed during the hold time - so that drives a certain minimum amount of time.

Because this is a process detail and must be addressed in your Quality Manual. In other words, work with your AIA to decide on a hold time to check for leaks.

we normally use 1 hour per inch of thickness with a 1 hour minimum.

but waiting for inspectors and AI it usually runs 5-6 hours.
