Hi there-

I'm trying to create a large scale version of the strobe effect seen in this now-infamous internet video of a "time fountain"

This kid wired a microcontroller to a dripping faucet and was able to have these LED lights strobe at an appropriate rate to create the effect of the drops "standing still" in time, just floating there.

I want to recreate this effect on a larger scale, with multiple streams of droplets. I don't know much about the high-end commercial strobe lighting world, but I wanted to ask wheher anyone knew of a type of light that might work for my purposes. I have two requirements: first, if I were to wire several of these lights together to behave as one, I would want enough light to adequately illuminate a large room.

Secondly, I need to be able to run the lights at rather high speeds. I'm not sure exactly how fast, but almost to the point of where the strobe is unnoticable. are there large strobes on the market that would be capable of this, even if I controlled them with my own timing information?

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks kindly for reading!
