In my area there is a BRUSH make generator 32KVA driven by FR6 GE gas turbine.
Radial vibration of the free end (exciter side) of the generator reaches the alarm limit 12 mm/s.
the vibration values are different from day to night time. During the day time it will reach the alarm limit meanwhile during night time it is normal i.e. 6 mm/sec.
generator is cooled by atmospheric air by an axial fan fixed on the generator rotor, vibration analysis showed 1x dominant vibration frequency.
if it is unbalanced rotor, the vibration values should be consistent regardless day or night time.
I would say it is unbalance due to something with the generator cooling.
I need help to analyze this please.
