Hello Folks,

We are working on a project which its design pressure and temperature exceeds ASME 2500# rating.
I noticed that the B31.3 has a Chapter IX and appendix K with the same title.

Is there any Codes/Standards/Recommended Practice/ Guides that we should consider beside B31.3?

Or any precautions while dealing with a such a high pressure systems?

We appreciate any feedback.

Cheers,
Frank

You need to follow Chapter IX. This includes a mandatory fatigue analysis of the pipework system. Also the thickness calculation is in Chapter IX.

And only use integrally reinforced branch connections: buttweld O'lets.

Just built a 3000# hydrogen system, used the H.P. section "K" of B31.3. Got a really good pipe system, that everybody is comfortable with.

In addition to the 100% NDE of welds, make sure that the hydrostatic test is actually performed at 1.5 times the design pressure. It is hard to get a 3-10,000 psig pump, and using them scares some pipefitters.

If there are any problems, either the NDE or the hydro, or both will catch them.
