I just found a new set of tools for Inventor that I didn't know I nor you have. They're kinda like Express Tools in AutoCAD although not nearly as complete. It's just some 'stuff'.
Go to the SDK directory in your main INV directory and read up on what's there. One of the utilities lets you change the colors it says but not really. All you can change is the translucency. But there are a couple of other things you might be able to use.
