hi friends

my company needs portable spectrometer for grade identification of different alloys on site. please let me know about your experience with this equipment? there are some companies with different option, and i need to know which company are best? probable problems of this equipment?

I have used XRF (tube type and isotope type) units with excellent results. I have also used portable light emiting spectroscopy units with even better results, especially regarding light elements like carbon and nitrogen.

The new XRF tube units are very reliable and easy to carry and use.
We have a couple of them and use them all of the time for grade verification and scrap sorting.
They are good provided you don't need much light element work.
They can tell 321 from 304 (and 439 from 430) but that is about the limit.
If you need trace levels of Al, or if you need C then you need to look at OE.

The companies involved in this market include Spectro, Bruker, Thermo Scientific (Niton) and Olympus (Innov-X).

You might hit a bargain,if you look for the refurbished ones.

thanks all friends

please also let me have your opinion about arun and belec portable spectrometer?

From the title, I thought your company was looking for some Wine.

That happens when you don't fill in the subject line - the program does it for you. Funny what pops up sometimes.

We use the Bruker LE version PMI machine we find it excellent for site work. The LE version provides improved capability for detection of light elements up to Magnesium. For trace element analysis and Carbon there is still a need for OES.

We have 3 or 4 Niton X-ray tube units and have been quite happy with the results and the services provided by Niton. Just don't drop one. Tube replacement costs are dear.
