Hi all
A geodesic aluminum dome is being leak tested. It is leak tested by flowing water through a 3 inch hose at 3kg/cm2 pressure. While testing, all nodes are found leaking. Silicone sealant had been applied thrice in the hub cover and all batten joints. But still leakage is observed. What might be the reason and how to fix it? Please share your ideas. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a nightmare.
What size and manufacturer is it? Can you show us a detail of the batten bars and hub covers?
Where and how much water is getting in after the third caulking job?
What procedure did you use to re-caulk, in particular were the batten bars or hub covers removed and reinstalled?

Is this a new installation, or retesting an existing roof?
I was thinking some of the older geodesic domes simply used a shingling approach, and weren't actually sealed. Might it be one of those?

Important information is missing ....

All of the joints leaking ???

New roof or old roof ????

Did you make up this leak testing by yourself ?

If it is a new roof, what type of leak testing procedure does the roof vendor suggest ?

Send pictures of the structural details (above) and leaking joints ....

Thank you all for your views. It is a new dome. Sadly we could not get any pictures of the dome now.
