I have posted here a couple of times. I deal in the manufacturing/rebuilding of valves for HF acid service (aka..alky valves). I have recently been contacted by one of my customers to build an experimental valve with stellite over steel trim. We all know that for some reason stellite risists the acid but don't why. When you consider what elements it is made up of it shouldn't This all leads up to severl questions so here goes....
1. what makes the stellite work? is it the microstructure, alloy etc..?
2. In steel what is the best microstructure for resisting the acid corrosion?
Thanks for the help
