Hello All,

Thank you everybody for the quick response for my previous queries. I am doing hex meshing for I beam and plate assembly, where plate is attached to I-beam with skip weld.
So I want to go for fine at weld locations and coarse at no-weld location in order to have control of element number. in other words I want to mesh couple of cells with fine mesh and others are with coarse size.
May I know the procedure for meshing cell after cell with required size. like in hypermesh or in ANSYS.?

I would really appreciate your guidance. Thank you so much for your time and help.

Kind regards,

In Abaqus to mesh with different element size/number one has to use so called seeds. First global seeds are assigned to the model and then each edge, surface or cell can have its own seed distribution applied. You can either specify the number of elements or their size. Bias is an option too. Then when you generate mesh Abaqus places elements in such way that they match the seed distribution (not in 100% though).
