Help with symbol 3

Did you do your own web search on pneumatic symbols?

Looks to me like a normally open valve on a pressure relief setup. If your schematics are anything like what I'm accustomed to seeing then there should be a BOM or notes somewhere on the page or another page as reference.

Monkeydog, if i did my own web search and found what the symbol stood for, i wouldn't have asked. So in future if you can't help someone, please don't ask stupid questions.

People will often ask a question without doing even a little bit of research on there own. You joined Eng-Tips on 4 days ago. How would anyone know you did any research on your own, if you do not state so?

Well Monkeydog let me spell it again. I would not have asked if i had found what I've been looking for, after intens searching the internet. What is the reason behind this forum?? To receive and to give information, or to tell people to go search the internet better?. Do i have to state that i have searched the internet thoroughly every time i ask a question? Don't be stupid. If you don't have an answer, or if you are not willing to give an answer, or if you think people don't search the internet enough, it's simple, don't write nothing, Give an answer or don't. Hope you get my point now.

Monkeydog, the reason i'm member of this forum is to receive information and also to contribute to the knowledge of the forum members.

Why did you have to ask if i have done my own web search on pneumatic symbols? Do you ask everyone on this forum, if they have done their own web search before asking questions? And for your information i didn't call anybody names. I'm not a rude person and i'm not angry, but i hate silly questions. I hope in future you and me will become friends and we can learn from one another. Cause that's the reason why people are members of a forum.

Why is it that an argument over a technical question gets people more motivated than a good technical response to the original question?

The symbol in question is not a standard symbol. However, it often used to show a valve that is not actually there, but there is a place for it. Optional extra, or a reservation if you will.

Stop arguing, life is too short...

Many thanks HPost. Your response is the kind of response i am looking for.. Two years ago i came across this symbol when analyzing a schematic of a crane and i couldn't find it on the internet. There was no need to search for the symbol anymore because the company, i analyzed the schematic for, replaced the crane.

When analyzing a schematic a few days ago i came across this symbol again. Searched for it on internet for a few days, but did not find anything. I know it's not a standard symbol and I don't know the name of the symbol. If you don't know the name it's hard to find the symbol and an explanation for it.

Many thanks for the explanation, because that would be my next question, what do they use it for??.

I'm almost finished with analyzing the schematic. I have one last symbol i like to know about. Saw something like it on a website and they say it's a ball valve. Can you confirm if it is a ball valve and what it's used for. Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks IRstuff. I saw the look alike symbol on that website too. As i mentioned earlier they named it a ball valve on that website.
