Hello to everybady

I've a project regarding instalation of switcgears in high altitudse up to 4000m.
I'm not familiar of the new demands and I'd like have assistance about it.

So I'm interesting for IEC standards, recommentations or other info, to enable me start up and manage in the write way the project.

Thank you very muh

Probally not a lot of people at that alititude.

The two main concerns are:

Reduced dielectric strength of air
Reduced heat transfer capability of air

Without knowing more about the type of switchgear, voltage levels, etc., it is difficult to offer specific references.

The equipment standards will be based on a maximum altitude. Above that altitude, de-rating factors will apply, primarily to maximum voltage, but also perhaps to the maximum rated current.

The instalation is regarding a switcgear box for controlling a diesel generator 500kW 3x400V at 50Hz, with have two sections, one section for main current and one section for controlling of machinery. The first section have busbars, main circuit breaker and power measuring printed board and the second have contactors, overload - short circuit protection, computer, UPS, scada device and terminals. The switcgear is designed according to EN 60439-1.

From ANSII, the voltage derates 0.72 and the current derates 0.94. If you use 600VAC rated equipment and do not push the current ratings, then you should not have an issue operating at 400VAC.
